Perfect Bacon in under 20 minutes!

I don’t know about you, but one of my first thoughts in the morning is “what am I going to have for breakfast?” Okay, sad confession…it’s my first thought and bacon has always been one of those staples for a delicious weekend breakfast.  As a teenager, my Dad would use it as an excuse to get me out of bed before 10 AM.  He’d quietly knock on my bedroom door, crack it open slightly and say “Smell that bacon?”  Who can get upset with that? Unfortunately, as a 16 year-old, I wasn’t always aware of how much labor goes into making bacon for a family of 5. Mom, I wish I could’ve given you this recipe 10 years ago, but better late than never right? If you are tired of cooking bacon in a small pan 3-4 strips at a time, then get ready for a recipe that will change your breakfast experience from this point on! This bacon recipe is perfect for any occasion, but especially when your family is in town visiting or you are planning on feeding breakfast to a small army.  All you do is put the bacon on a pan and place it in the oven.  That is it! And you get perfectly crisp bacon in under 20 minutes and hardly any clean-up! Just roll the aluminum foil into a ball and discard! Caution: This recipe is so easy, you may start adding bacon into more recipes causing negative effects to your cholesterol, but you only live once right? Right!photo 5

Perfect Bacon Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Bacon (any amount)
  • Aluminum Foil
  • Oven (okay, I know this is not an ingredient, but this list seemed too short!)

Directions:

1.) Cover your pan completely with aluminum foil. Then, lay the bacon in the pan with a little bit of separation between the pieces.

2.) Preheat your oven to 400 degrees and immediately place the bacon in the oven. ****Do not wait for the oven to preheat! This is the key to making successful bacon in the oven!photo 3

3.) Set your timer to 15 minutes.  Once your timer goes off, keep an eye on your bacon to make sure it reaches your desired done-ness.  For crispy bacon, cook for 17 minutes.  If you’re one of those people who likes your bacon slightly burnt then 20 minutes is your magic time.

4.) Take bacon out of the oven, pat with a paper towel to get some of the grease off and then eat the delicious benefits of your labor..or lack thereof!
